Same Sex Weddings - Scottish Style

Finally, I can now call myself a same sex wedding photographer! 🙂 2017 has been the year of shooting my first same sex weddings and I have to say it’s been amazing to be a part of two of these special events now. The images featured here are from Alistair and Peter’s fantastic day in Edinburgh featuring three great wedding venues the capital has on offer: St John’s Cathedral; St Cuthbert’s Church; and the City Chambers.

I feel very proud to live in a country where it’s legal, and just totally fine, for two people of the same sex to get married. And, of course they should be. If two people love each other and want to get married then they should be allowed to do so. I think the SNP government had a bill passed in 2014 to allow this to happen, so good for them, and good to see people benefiting from the actions of the Scottish government.

And what struck me most about the two weddings? Well both were very different occasions, one was a very small do with a couple who had come from another country (where gay marriage is illegal) and again I felt very proud that they had chosen to come all the way to the haven of Scotland to do so. And the other, Peter and Alistair’s day featured here, was a fine example of a glorious big wedding day for two people who very much want to share their lives together.

At the end of the day I’ll work my hardest at every wedding to create beautiful images whoever the people are that are getting married.
